Trump ends talks, says Canada’s Reagan ad is ‘fake’

Date:

President Trump has ended all trade talks with Canada, declaring that an ad from Ontario featuring Ronald Reagan is “fake” and “fraudulent.”
He accused Canada of “egregious behavior” on truth social and claimed the ad was an attempt to interfere with US supreme court hearings on his tariffs.
The ad was launched by Ontario premier Doug Ford to fight back against the 35% US tariffs that have damaged his province’s economy.
The ad has also been criticized by the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation. They stated the “selective audio” was used without permission and “misrepresents” the full 1987 speech.
The halt in talks, confirmed by secretary of state Marco Rubio, creates a crisis for Canadian pm mark carney, who has been seeking to ease trade tensions.
