Netflix’s ‘Scooby-Doo!’ Live-Action Series Pushes Filming to Early 2026

Date:

Netflix’s highly anticipated live-action adaptation of Scooby-Doo! is officially moving forward, with a focus on a younger cast for the beloved mystery-solving gang. The series, announced in March, is a modern reimagining of the iconic Hanna-Barbera cartoon, bringing Fred, Daphne, Shaggy, and Velma back to the screen in a new format. This production by Warner Bros. Television, Berlanti Productions, and Midnight Radio will see Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg taking the helm as showrunners.
The storyline is set to follow the teenage quartet during their final summer at camp. There, they encounter a lonely Great Dane puppy, who quickly becomes an integral part of their adventures. This special dog witnesses a mysterious supernatural murder, drawing the teens into a frightening case that threatens to expose their deepest secrets. The show’s official logline promises a blend of mystery, friendship, and supernatural suspense, creating a fresh take on the classic tale.
Set to consist of eight hour-long episodes, the series is currently listed by the Writers Guild of America as Scooby-Doo! The Live-Action Series. While a specific title is yet to be confirmed, production details are becoming clearer. Filming, which was initially rumored to begin in late 2025, has now been pushed back. Sources indicate that the new target for the start of production is early 2026.
This live-action series aims to capture the charm and humor of the original cartoon while delivering a contemporary twist. The show is expected to be a major release for Netflix, generating significant buzz among fans new and old. Viewers are eagerly awaiting further details, including casting announcements and the first look at the Great Dane who will portray a young Scooby-Doo.
