Ignoring Trump, Allies, and Protesters, Netanyahu Stays the Course

Date:

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s UN address was a masterclass in tuning out dissent. He ignored a recent warning from Donald Trump, the policy shifts of his closest allies, the protests on the street, and the walkout in the hall to deliver a message of unwavering commitment to his current path.
He did not mention Trump’s vow to block West Bank annexation. He instead attacked allies like the UK and France for recognizing Palestine, calling their decision “horribly wrong.” He dismissed the walkout of over 100 diplomats by claiming he has broad private support.
The core of his message was continuity and resolve. He vowed to “finish the job” in Gaza, rejecting all calls for a ceasefire or a change in strategy. He presented the nearly two-year war not as a quagmire, but as a necessary task to be completed.
By systematically ignoring every signal to moderate his position, Netanyahu sent a clear message: his government’s policy is not up for negotiation or debate, regardless of the source or scale of the pressure.
