Brad Pitt is set to reprise his role as Cliff Booth, the enigmatic stuntman from Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 film, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” in an upcoming spin-off directed by David Fincher. The new film, titled “The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth,” has been officially announced by Netflix. This story delves into Booth’s journey as he maneuvers through an evolving film industry while grappling with his enigmatic past.
The film is slated to hit global IMAX screens for a limited two-week run starting on November 25, before making its streaming debut on Netflix on December 23. Quentin Tarantino, known for his distinct storytelling, penned the screenplay for this project but opted not to direct. He has expressed a desire for his final directorial work not to be a sequel, despite his enthusiasm for the continuation of Cliff Booth’s narrative.
Set in 1977, eight years after the original film’s events, the new movie will explore Booth’s life as he adapts to the rapidly changing Hollywood landscape. The cast brings together an impressive ensemble, featuring Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, Matt Groove, JB Tadena, Corey Fogelmanis, and Karren Karagulian alongside Pitt. The original film, set in the late 1960s Los Angeles, starred Pitt alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie.
Taking the helm as director, David Fincher brings his renowned cinematic expertise to the project. Fincher, known for acclaimed films like “Fight Club,” “Zodiac,” “The Social Network,” and “Gone Girl,” as well as Netflix series such as “House of Cards” and “Mindhunter,” offers a fresh creative perspective to the spin-off. Tarantino’s illustrious directing career includes films such as “Pulp Fiction,” “Reservoir Dogs,” “Kill Bill,” “Django Unchained,” and “The Hateful Eight.”
