Ram Temple Trust Faces Financial Scrutiny After Executive’s Resignation Over Theft

Date:

In a recent development, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust has accepted the resignations of its General Secretary, Champat Rai, and trustee Anil Mishra. These resignations come amidst an ongoing investigation into allegations of embezzlement involving donations meant for the Ram Mandir. Trust treasurer Govind Giri confirmed that the resignations were in line with the constitution of the trust. He took the opportunity to acknowledge the significant role Champat Rai has played since the trust was established.

The alleged irregularities occurred during the counting of temple donations, prompting the resignations. Pankaj Jaiswal, a senior member of the trust, described the situation as both painful and disgraceful, emphasizing the unacceptable nature of any misappropriation of funds contributed by devotees. This incident has cast a shadow over the trust’s operations as they navigate the challenging situation.

In response to the resignations, the trust has appointed Krisha Mohan to serve as the interim General Secretary. Govind Giri will maintain his position as treasurer during this period of transition. The trust remains committed to addressing these allegations and has scheduled a meeting on July 22. By this date, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is expected to submit its final report on the matter.

Govind Giri has made it clear that the trust will uphold accountability, stating that no individual found guilty of wrongdoing will be shielded from legal repercussions, regardless of their status within the organization. This commitment underscores the trust’s determination to address the allegations thoroughly and transparently.

To date, eight individuals have been arrested in connection with the alleged theft of donations, and the investigation continues to unfold. The trust’s leadership, while grappling with the fallout from these allegations, is focused on ensuring that justice is served and that the integrity of the temple’s operations is maintained.
