Google Expands AI Features in Chrome to Android Users in India

Date:

Google has expanded its Gemini in Chrome artificial intelligence features to Android users in India, integrating advanced AI capabilities directly into the Chrome browser. This update introduces AI-powered assistance that enables users to summarize webpages, link information across Google services, and execute various online tasks seamlessly.

Designed as an AI assistant within the browser, Gemini in Chrome offers Android users functionalities like webpage summaries, integration with services such as Gmail and Calendar, and even image generation. A key highlight of this expansion is the introduction of a sophisticated auto-browse feature, available for both desktop and Android devices, tailored for Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscribers in India.

This auto-browse feature empowers Gemini to autonomously navigate websites and perform specific tasks on behalf of users. It is capable of handling complex, multi-step web activities like comparing products, discovering deals, booking event tickets, making restaurant reservations, and scheduling appointments. These tasks, which typically require users to interact with multiple webpages, can now be streamlined by Gemini.

Recognizing the potential risks associated with AI-driven web interactions, Google has implemented safety measures to protect users. Gemini is equipped to identify threats such as prompt-injection attempts, ensuring that users are prompted to confirm any sensitive actions before they are executed. These safeguards are crucial when AI systems have the ability to make changes, submit forms, or conduct transactions on behalf of users.

The number of multi-step tasks that users can perform using the auto-browse feature depends on their Google AI subscription level. Google AI Pro subscribers can make up to 20 multi-step requests per day, while Google AI Ultra subscribers have a higher limit of 200 requests daily.

With this expansion, Google is significantly enhancing the AI capabilities available within Chrome, offering users the ability to go beyond simple AI queries to executing complex tasks across the web, thus broadening the scope of what can be achieved through AI integration in everyday browsing activities.
