7 Simple Foods That Can Make a Big Difference for Your Liver

Date:

A gastroenterologist has shared that you don’t need a complex diet to support your liver—seven simple foods can make a big difference. These fruits and vegetables are packed with nutrients for detoxification and metabolism.
One simple addition is watermelon with a squeeze of lime. The expert says this combo supports healthy blood flow to the liver, thanks to watermelon’s citrulline and lime’s vitamin C, which boost nitric oxide.
Another easy addition is pomegranates. The doctor highlights these for their rich polyphenol content, which research suggests can help calm the inflammatory signals that can negatively affect the liver.
Cranberries and raspberries are also simple, powerful choices. Cranberries (or unsweetened juice) support the gut-liver axis with their prebiotic polyphenols. Raspberries offer fiber and anthocyanins to help regulate blood sugar and fat processing.
The list also includes apples with cinnamon (for insulin sensitivity), beetroot (for fat processing), and strawberries with dark chocolate (70%+). This last combo is a simple treat that supports blood vessel function and cardiometabolic health.
