Canada, UK, France Threaten Sanctions Over Israel’s Gaza Offensive

Date:

In a rare coordinated statement, the leaders of Canada, the United Kingdom, and France issued a strong warning to Israel over its expanded military actions in Gaza and the West Bank. The countries expressed deep concern over the humanitarian crisis, threatening “concrete actions,” including sanctions, if Israel does not halt its renewed offensive and ease restrictions on aid.
The statement deemed Israel’s limited food aid delivery “wholly inadequate” and the level of human suffering in Gaza “intolerable.” While reaffirming Israel’s right to self-defense, the trio criticized the military escalation as disproportionate.
Israel launched a new wave of air and ground attacks over the weekend and ordered the evacuation of Khan Younis. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reaffirmed plans to assume full control over Gaza and promote the voluntary emigration of Palestinians — a suggestion widely condemned by Palestinian leaders.
The joint message also denounced settlement expansion in the West Bank, warning that such actions undermine prospects for peace.
