For decades, the US masterfully navigated the world’s power triangles. Today, it has found itself the odd one out in a new, dangerous triangle formed by Russia, China, and India. The recent SCO summit showcased this new alignment, prompting stark warnings from US commentators.
Analyst Van Jones called the event a “historically big deal,” stating that the image of the three leaders united is a clear sign of a “new world order.” He explained the strategic peril by contrasting the current situation with the past. “It was US and China together and Russia by itself,” he recalled. “Now we are on the bad side of the triangle.”
This unfavorable shift is being seen as a direct consequence of US trade policies that have pushed other major powers together. The tariffs have created a common enemy, allowing rivals to find common ground and form a united front against American pressure.
The result, Jones concluded, is that the US is “in a box.” It faces a world where “it’s everybody against us,” a dramatic and unfavorable redrawing of the global power map that is “not good for America.”
