President Donald Trump is ramping up his tariff campaign by issuing more letters to foreign governments, warning of upcoming duties. The move is part of a broader effort to restructure trade agreements that the administration believes put the United States at a disadvantage.
Earlier this week, 14 countries received letters alerting them to tariff hikes ranging from 25% to 40%. Now, at least seven more nations are expected to receive similar notices. The aim is clear: bring reluctant partners back to the negotiating table under new terms.
While tensions rise globally, Trump shared encouraging news on a few key trade fronts. He confirmed deals have already been struck with the United Kingdom and China. Talks with India are progressing, with Trump indicating a final agreement is close.
Although the initial compliance deadline was July 9, it has been extended to August 1. Trump has made it clear that this is the final date. “No extensions will be granted,” he emphasized, reinforcing the seriousness of his administration’s stance.
