PM Modi Meets Canadian FM Anita Anand, Vows to Boost Bilateral Ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Canada’s Foreign Minister Anita Anand in New Delhi on Monday, welcoming her first official visit to India. Modi said the visit would provide fresh momentum to the India-Canada bilateral partnership, highlighting the importance of enhanced cooperation in trade, energy, technology, agriculture, and people-to-people ties.
The meeting built on Modi’s June discussions with Canadian counterpart Mark Carney during the G7 Summit. Anand emphasized that India and Canada are elevating their relationship, expanding economic engagement, and maintaining strong law enforcement and security dialogue.
Anand, who arrived in New Delhi on Sunday, also met External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, who underlined the need to strengthen bilateral ties to support economic resilience and rebuild cooperation. During her visit, Anand is also scheduled to meet Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal to discuss boosting two-way trade. New Delhi marks the first stop on her three-nation tour, which will include China and Singapore.
