₹13,800 Crore Investment Boosts Delhi’s Infrastructure and Economic Welfare Initiatives

Date:

Delhi is gearing up for a significant welfare and infrastructure initiative, the Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan, which is set to commence on September 17. Announced by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, this month-long campaign aligns with the celebration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public service. The ambitious program aims to roll out and lay the foundation for projects totaling approximately ₹13,800 crore across the city.

On the first day of the campaign, a large-scale blood donation drive is scheduled with the objective of collecting 2,500 units. The government also intends to advocate for organ donation while organizing health camps aimed at senior citizens. Comprehensive sanitation efforts, initiatives to clean the Yamuna River, and registration camps for various government welfare schemes will be conducted in all 70 assembly constituencies, ensuring widespread participation and benefits.

A significant proportion of the campaign’s budget, around ₹8,000 crore, is earmarked for projects associated with the Yamuna River. The initiative will also recognize the efforts of more than 4,000 Anganwadi and ASHA workers. In an effort to engage the youth, the campaign will host events in approximately 5,000 schools, including painting and speech competitions, alongside an innovation challenge that encourages students to develop ideas geared towards a more developed India.

The planned projects span multiple sectors, with ₹8,000 crore allocated to Delhi Jal Board works, ₹2,800 crore designated for Public Works Department projects, and ₹1,500 crore dedicated to power-sector improvements. Additional allocations include ₹365 crore for irrigation and flood control efforts and ₹77 crore for enhancing tourism infrastructure.
